Terms of Service

Last updated: 7 September 2026

OurHub is a website and noticeboard platform for Australian community groups — progress associations, halls, clubs, churches, charities, and the towns they belong to. OurHub is a registered business name of a sole trader based in New South Wales, Australia, ABN 26 338 765 388. These terms are the agreement between you and the holder of that ABN, trading as OurHub (“we”, “us”). The registered holder is named on the public register at abr.business.gov.au. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. We have written them in plain English on purpose; the plain meaning is the intended one.

1. The service

OurHub gives your group a public website with pages, news, events, a local directory, facility bookings, consultations, membership records and emergency notices, managed through an admin dashboard by the people you choose. We host it, keep it running, and improve it over time. We may change features as the service evolves; if we ever retire something your group depends on, we will give you reasonable notice.

2. Accounts and your team

3. Plans, trials and fees

4. Your content

5. Acceptable use

Community sites are for communities. Do not use OurHub to publish content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, or misleading; to impersonate a person or organisation; to send spam; or to interfere with the service or other people's sites. What that means in practice, how published content is checked, and what happens when something is taken down is set out on our acceptable use page, which is part of these terms. We may suspend or remove sites that breach it, and in serious cases close the account.

6. The community network

Sites on OurHub can link together — a group under its town, a town under its region. When your site is linked and sharing is on, your published news and events also appear on the hubs above you, clearly labelled with your name and linking back to your site. You can turn sharing off at any time on your Network screen. Requests to link are only ever completed when both committees agree.

7. Emergency information — important

OurHub is not an emergency service. Alerts published by committees, and warnings we relay automatically from official feeds (such as the NSW Rural Fire Service and the Bureau of Meteorology), are provided on a best-effort basis. Feeds can be delayed, incomplete or unavailable, and volunteer-published notices can contain errors.

Never rely on OurHub as your only source of emergency information. Always confirm through official channels — the Hazards Near Me app, emergency services websites and broadcasts — and in a life-threatening emergency always call 000 first.

Who may issue a warning. The Advice, Watch and Act and Emergency Warning levels of the Australian Warning System, and the colours that go with them, can only be used by a person or group we have recognised as an emergency service — for example a Rural Fire Service brigade or an SES unit. We grant that recognition ourselves, on evidence of the position held; a group cannot grant it to itself or to anyone else, and we can withdraw it at any time. Anything published by a committee that has not been recognised appears as a community notice in the site's own colours, is labelled as a notice, and must not be presented as an official warning.

If you hold that recognition you are responsible for what you publish under it. Use the warning levels only as your agency's own procedures direct, keep them current, and clear them when they no longer apply. Recognition covers the position you hold, not the account: tell us when you leave the role so we can withdraw it.

8. Member payments and bookings

Where the service records membership fees, facility fees or bonds, it is a record-keeping tool: money changes hands directly between your group and its members or hirers, and OurHub does not process, hold or guarantee those payments. Booking requests and membership applications are always confirmed by a person on your committee — the platform never accepts them on your behalf.

9. Availability

We work to keep OurHub available and fast, and it runs on infrastructure built for that. But no online service is perfect: we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and planned maintenance or events beyond our control may cause outages. We are a small Australian operation and will always be straight with you about problems.

10. Ending things

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, including consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded. To the extent the law allows anything beyond that:

You are responsible for content your group publishes and agree to cover us for claims arising from it, to the extent you caused the problem.

12. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms to keep up with the law, to cover a new part of the service, to protect the security of the platform, or to change what a paid plan costs under clause 3. We will not use this clause to reduce what you have already paid for during a period you have paid for.

If a change matters to you, we will tell account holders by email and in the dashboard at least 30 days before it takes effect, and we will say plainly what is changing. If you do not want the change, cancel before it starts and we will refund the unused part of any period you have already paid for — this overrides the no-partial-refunds line in clause 3. If you are still using OurHub after the change takes effect, the new terms apply from then on. Changes never apply backwards to something that happened before they started.

If OurHub moves to a new legal entity (for example through a business restructure), this agreement carries over to the new operator on the same terms, and we will let account holders know.

13. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Questions, complaints and legal notices: hello@ourhub.au.
